Chansons de cicatrices et de blessures – Songtexte

Chansons de cicatrices et de blessures

With an album like “Chansons de cicatrices et de blessures,” (Songs of Scars and Wounds) the first question that comes to mind is probably why it’s in French. Many people associate French with the language of love; it sounds so “romantic.” For me, however, this language evokes immense emotion and, above all—and this was decisive in my choice—melancholy. It’s a language that tears at your heart even without understanding the words. To me, this means the language conveys not just the text itself, but also the emotion behind it.

To amplify the effect of the language, I chose a genre that is a mixture of 80s darkwave, ambient, and industrial. Both the despair and the pain should be noticeable, as well as the relentless machinery of society.

But what exactly is the new album about? In fact, the themes vary more widely than on the previous album, “Das Album des Grauens.” Loneliness, social coldness, criticism of consumerism, abuse; I hope there is a lot for interested listeners to discover. As usual, the songs are described in detail here, along with the lyrics.

Why do this, actually? Perhaps the answer itself contains a major critique of our times. Even music is now merely consumed and no longer experienced. I remember my youth. I had bought a new album (they called it a CD). I listened to the record right away, grabbed the booklet, and read the lyrics. What themes are there? What is the band or artist trying to say? Plus, the pictures were a little journey in themselves. Music was an experience. Today, I blast through a playlist of 100 songs and afterward don’t even know exactly what I heard. Anyone who thinks I’m just nostalgic for the old days is a bit mistaken. Because, in fact, today’s technology offers far more opportunities to immerse yourself in music. Back then, I couldn’t just go online and find out everything about an artist. I had to rely on articles in magazines or... take a deep breath... books. We have so many wonderful opportunities these days. But once again, people are using technology solely to maximize profit. The perversion of art isn’t caused by AI, but by the exploitation of people.

This criticism is also reflected on the new album in songs like “Dieu de la consommation.”

As always, I’m naturally happy when people listen to my music. But I’m even happier when I get into conversations with people. It doesn’t matter whether someone likes my lyrics or says, “I see it differently.” But unfortunately, real conversations have become rare. Many people seem afraid to step outside their comfortable little worlds and question things together. (Well, I’m glad AI exists!)

The Scar Behind the Song

The ‘most wonderful’ thing that can happen to a songwriter is for the lyrics to become reality. When I wrote this song, I was thinking about the state of our society. About how people are giving up their own humanity. About how we’re just going through the motions, and how that beautiful face is nothing but a mask. About how, in truth, all human emotions – such as compassion, solidarity and empathy – have been frozen solid.

And now I’m sitting here on a day when my employer is denying me even the last shred of humanity. People seeking help are fobbed off like a nuisance. No service. No regard for the public. Just the cold reality of capitalist society.

Now comes the big question: what to do? Become desensitised, just another cog in the system? Break down and be replaced? Die and no longer be part of a sick society?

Unfortunately, I have no answer at this moment.

I only have a song with which I wanted to express precisely this coldness. A cold, 80s-inspired industrial track with ambient horror. Industrial as a symbol of a dehumanised world, and ambient horror for the real horror I feel. Perhaps one or two of you will be able to relate to this scar.

Délivre-moi

La solitude n’est pas un choix, c’est un destin.

Genre: Industrial, Ambient

The Scar Behind the Song

If you want to explore ‘Delivre-moi’, you first need to clarify the question: what is loneliness? Because that is precisely what the song is about.

A professional definition states: "Loneliness is the painful, subjective feeling that one’s social contacts do not meet one’s personal desires and needs. It is the discrepancy between the emotional connection one longs for and the social reality one actually experiences.”

Unfortunately, very few people engage with the subject in such depth. And so the everyday definition is much simpler: loneliness is the absence of other people.

An idea that can only occur to people who have never felt loneliness.

‘Delivre-moi’ takes a different approach here. For the question of when loneliness arises immediately shatters such simplistic explanatory models. Loneliness arises as early as the first years, months and sometimes days of a person’s life. Instead of trust and security, a vast black hole emerges that swallows everything; loneliness.

If the explanation offered by those with simplistic views were really correct, one would simply need to surround oneself with enough people who laugh with you, with whom you can have a nice small talk, with whom you can party and go on holidays to Mallorca together. But a person who carries loneliness within them could surround themselves with millions of these meaningless people, and the loneliness would become even greater, even more brutal and even more destructive.

And so my song actually does something quite simple. It shows the path whereby a lonely person first defines the person who could end their inner loneliness. What follows is the agonising spiral of trying to find this ideal type. But this search leads to the same result every day; this person does not exist.

What remains is the longing for salvation; Delivre-Moi – Set me free!

Of course, it would be lovely if, at the end of the song, the message came: Yes, there is deliverance! How wonderful that would be, and it would so beautifully confirm the illusory world of ‘normal’ people. There is always a happy ending.

But ‘Délivre-moi’ refuses to give such an easy answer. There is no revelation, no saving light breaking through the darkness. And yet, there is not complete surrender either. Because as long as the question “Where are you?” is still being asked, a fragment of hope remains.
Perhaps this is the true tragedy: not the absence of hope, but the inability to let it die. A tiny spark that keeps the search alive, while every failed attempt deepens the wound. What remains is a captivity within the eternal spiral of loneliness – trapped between the longing for salvation and the fear that it may never come.

What better setting could there be for this text than a blend of classic 80s industrial and ambient electronic? The brutal machinery of life in musical garb, and at the same time that underlying sound suggesting something is missing. Performed by an emotional French voice. The language of love sings of hopeless loneliness. One could therefore argue that language deceives the listener just as much as life itself.

Lyrics

Chantée dans mille chansons.
Comprise par quelques-uns.
La solitude n’est pas un choix,
c’est un destin.
Le destin d’une âme brisée.
Forgée dès les premières heures…

De la vie.

Brise les chaînes.
Libère la douleur.
Que les âmes sombres brûlent.
L'espoir est mort.
Chaque quête
est un périple sans fin.

Brûle mes larmes !
Tue mon cœur !
Ne me laisse plus rien ressentir !
Délivre-moi !

Délivre-moi....

Je sens la pluie.
Une douce caresse.
Des contacts que j’avais oubliés.
Un être humain peut-il apaiser
ce désir ardent ?
Pas un être humain ordinaire !
Il ne comprend pas l’abîme.

Brise les chaînes.
Libère la douleur.
Que les âmes sombres brûlent.
L'espoir est mort.
Chaque quête
est un périple sans fin.

Brûle mes larmes !
Tue mon cœur !
Ne me laisse plus rien ressentir !
Délivre-moi !

Délivre-moi....

Brise les chaînes.
Libère la douleur.
Que les âmes sombres brûlent.
L'espoir est mort.
Chaque quête
est un périple sans fin.

Brûle mes larmes !
Tue mon cœur !
Ne me laisse plus rien ressentir !
Délivre-moi !

Délivre-moi....

La nuit ne connaît
pas de masques.
Les illusions du jour s'évanouissent.
Un murmure discret
à la recherche de l'inconnu.
Existe-t-il vraiment ?
Puis-je le trouver ?
N'est-ce qu'un faux espoir ?

Brise les chaînes.
Libère la douleur.
Que les âmes sombres brûlent.
L'espoir est mort.
Chaque quête
est un périple sans fin.

Brûle mes larmes !
Tue mon cœur !
Ne me laisse plus rien ressentir !
Délivre-moi !

Délivre-moi....

La proximité
est-elle morte à jamais ?
La chaleur s'est-elle éteinte ?
Suis-je encore un être humain ?
Non !

Mort-né.
Privé d'avenir.

Où es-tu ?
(Ici !)
Où puis-je te trouver ?
(Dans l'obscurité !)
Pourquoi ces tourments ?
(Ils sont le chemin !)
Mes larmes finiront-elles par sécher ?
(Oui !)

Brise les chaînes.
Libère la douleur.
Que les âmes sombres brûlent.
L'espoir est mort.
Chaque quête
est un périple sans fin.

Brûle mes larmes !
Tue mon cœur !
Ne me laisse plus rien ressentir !
Délivre-moi !

Délivre-moi....

Brise les chaînes.
Libère la douleur.
Que les âmes sombres brûlent.
L'espoir est mort.
Chaque quête
est un périple sans fin.

Brûle mes larmes !
Tue mon cœur !
Ne me laisse plus rien ressentir !
Délivre-moi !

Délivre-moi....

Aie pitié.
Délivre-moi...

Chacun contre Chacun

Ne te regarde pas dans le miroir. Tu pourrais avoir peur.

Genre: Industrial, Dark Synthwave

The Scar Behind the Song

Our society is unique. It celebrates qualities that we should actually despise. That is precisely what my song ‘Chacun contre chacun’ explores.

Human beings are, in fact, social creatures, but our ‘gods’ extol pure selfishness. If you don’t elbow your way through, someone else will and take something away from you. It doesn’t matter what they take away, because the very thought that someone might have something I don’t is agonising. The person opposite me isn’t my partner; they’re my opponent. Of course, you might put on a friendly face now and then – perhaps you’ll benefit from the other person. And of course there are beautiful, colourful posters promoting equality and community. But posters fade and are forgotten. Humanity is now nothing more than a show that sells well. After all, everyone longs for it. But capitalism knows no humanity; it knows only the market and its needs.

And so we’re also presented with the one true god: money. For money, we sell our souls, our humanity. And what are we promised? That for money, we can buy happiness, love and success. It’s strange that so many people still fail to achieve these three goals. But the answer, once again, is quite simple: strive for even more money.

But this perverted society brings with it yet another phenomenon. People with narcissistic personality disorder are not regarded as ill. OK, they aren’t very kind to their fellow human beings, but they are ambitious; they bring success; they bring money. The fact that they destroy the lives of innocent people is simply tolerated. A terrible illness is celebrated as a model of success. You wonder: who is more sick, the narcissist, a society that celebrates them, or the people who remain silent?

With a blend of industrial and dark synthwave, I wanted to capture this oppressive atmosphere and make it palpable. The listener is meant to be immersed in the madness that this society sells to us as ‘normal’. That’s precisely why the song probably won’t find many enthusiastic listeners, but I’m not concerned with them anyway. I’m interested in the ‘mad ones’ who refuse to resign themselves to these circumstances.

Lyrics

N'aie pas peur,
la mort viendra !

Chacun contre chacun!
Tous contre tous!
Votre dieu s'appelle l'égoïsme.
Que la mort vienne.
La folie est la norme.
L'homme a perdu son humanité.

Écoute ce violon sombre!
Il joue à ton enterrement!

Tu veux ce que l'autre possède.
Tu prends ce que l'autre possède.
La société applaudit.
Le succès remplace l'humanité.
Le narcissisme est célébré.
Le mal de notre époque.

L'argent, c'est Dieu.
Vous vous prosternez devant lui.
Soumis, prêts à tout.
Il ordonne, vous mentez.
Il ordonne, vous trichez.
Il ordonne, vous tuez.
Il ordonne, vous abusez.
La pensée est morte.
Les sentiments ont rendu l'âme.

Chacun contre chacun!
Tous contre tous!
Votre dieu s'appelle l'égoïsme.
Que la mort vienne.
La folie est la norme.
L'homme a perdu son humanité.

Écoute ce violon sombre!
Il joue à ton enterrement!

Ne tourne le dos à personne.
Il pourrait te trahir.
La morale n'est que vantée,
elle n'est pas vécue.
Une communauté de fous.
Condamnée à la perdition!

Ne te regarde pas dans le miroir.
Tu pourrais avoir peur.
Cette grimace
fait partie de toi.
L'abîme t'a englouti.
Les larmes
ne servent plus à rien.
Accepte ta mort!

Chacun contre chacun!
Tous contre tous!
Votre dieu s'appelle l'égoïsme.
Que la mort vienne.
La folie est la norme.
L'homme a perdu son humanité.

Écoute ce violon sombre!
Il joue à ton enterrement!

Une croix est là, prête.
Elle attend, près de ta tombe.
Elle rappelle l'humanité.
Celle qui a péri.
Vendue pour de l'argent.
Assassinée pour la gloire.

Une âme vendue.
Un avenir vendu.
Quand le miroir se brise,
il ne reste que le vide.
La sombre vérité de l'hypocrisie.
Ne te lamente pas !
C'est fini !

Chacun contre chacun!
Tous contre tous!
Votre dieu s'appelle l'égoïsme.
Que la mort vienne.
La folie est la norme.
L'homme a perdu son humanité.

Écoute ce violon sombre!
Il joue à ton enterrement!

Chacun contre chacun!
Tous contre tous!
Votre dieu s'appelle l'égoïsme.
Que la mort vienne.
La folie est la norme.
L'homme a perdu son humanité.

Écoute ce violon sombre!
Il joue à ton enterrement!

À genoux !
Le coup de grâce arrive !

Le Souvenir

Le monstre est dans la tête. Il décide... quand on s'effondre.

Genre: Industrial, Ambient Horror, Darkwave

The Scar Behind the Song

‘Le Souvenir’ is perhaps the most personal song on the album. It isn’t directly about traumatic experiences, but about memory. That painful memory that just won’t let you go. A scar that has been seared deep into the brain.

Sometimes you think you just need to distract yourself effectively enough, or you numb the feeling with alcohol, painkillers and the similar things. But the truth is, you can’t escape it. The memory is always there. And as if that weren’t cruel enough, it also decides when it will resurface.

Sometimes years go by and you don’t spend a single second thinking about it. Then suddenly it tears your very being apart.

How do you get rid of it? I wish I could offer a solution. All I’ve learnt is to live with the memory. To stop denying it. It’s a part of me, and in a way, that part has also led me to write this song – indeed, the entire music of my project. Something dark has given rise to something creative. That might not be to everyone’s taste, but fortunately, that’s not my problem.

In fact, it’s songs like “Le Souvenir” that drive me to keep developing this project. I simply want to say to people with similar experiences: “Yes, something terrible happened to us, and no, I don’t have a solution, but we have the right to talk about it. The cloak of silence that ‘normal’ society casts over these issues must be torn apart.”

For me, of course, the choice of genres was also hugely important. The relentless industrial sound reflects the unyielding nature of memory. Ambient horror – how could it be otherwise? – represents the pain and cruelty experienced by victims, whilst the subtle touch of darkwave conveys a sense of the despair that holds you captive.

“Le Souvenir” is not an easy song. It’s not a song you’d listen to over breakfast. It is torment, just like the memory itself.

Lyrics

Enfermé dans ces vieilles pièces.
Chaque image est une douleur.
Chaque photo montre un mort.
Mort depuis longtemps.
Seul le corps subsiste encore.

je cours et je cours.
Mille feux laissés derrière moi.
Impossible de s'échapper.
Le monstre est dans la tête.
Il décide...
quand on s'effondre.

Le souvenir
ne me lâche pas.
Gravé à jamais.
Cicatrice du passé.

Chaque parfum est un danger.
Chaque mot,
une voix venue d'autrefois.
Que reste-t-il, sinon le repli sur soi ?
Est-ce encore la vie ?

je cours et je cours.
Mille feux laissés derrière moi.
Impossible de s'échapper.
Le monstre est dans la tête.
Il décide...
quand on s'effondre.

Le souvenir
ne me lâche pas.
Gravé à jamais.
Cicatrice du passé.

Des moments
que l'on a depuis longtemps oubliés.
Brisent le calme.
Les nuits deviennent un supplice.
Les rêves, la mort.

je cours et je cours.
Mille feux laissés derrière moi.
Impossible de s'échapper.
Le monstre est dans la tête.
Il décide...
quand on s'effondre.

Le souvenir
ne me lâche pas.
Gravé à jamais.
Cicatrice du passé.

Y a-t-il un moyen d'y échapper ?
Les images s'estompent-elles ?
Les voix se taisent-elles ?
Le souvenir s'éteint-il ?
Ou est-ce moi qui meurs ?

je cours et je cours.
Mille feux laissés derrière moi.
Impossible de s'échapper.
Le monstre est dans la tête.
Il décide...
quand on s'effondre.

Le souvenir
ne me lâche pas.
Gravé à jamais.
Cicatrice du passé.

Quand le souvenir s'efface-t-il ?

Quand...

Quand...

Trop Longtemps

Ceux qui ne s'adaptent pas sont réduits au silence.

Genre: Industrial Ambient Horror, Cinematic Darkwave, Dystopian Synthwave

The Scar Behind the Song

We live in strange times. Those who proclaim democracy to be their guiding principle are sometimes the greatest threat to democracy itself. Decisions are made about what people are allowed to say; decisions are made about which opinions are acceptable.

Those who don’t fit in aren’t thrown into prison, as in a ‘normal’ dictatorship; no, they are socially isolated. Critical voices are silenced. This makes it easy to create a world full of harmony. Everyone shares the same opinion, everyone plays the same game, everyone wears the same mask.

But bit by bit, the mask crumbles. Their own lies no longer work. Yet the more the lie crumbles, the more vehemently it is repeated. Watching this daily charade is pure torture and, at the same time, the driving force behind writing a song like ‘Trop Longtemps’.

For a song that combines anger and despair, the only option for me was a blend of industrial and ambient horror. The mechanical sound of industrial music perfectly reflects the endless madness of this society, whilst ambient horror captures that unsettling feeling that won’t let you go. The feeling that whispers to you, “This world is going to end...”.

Lyrics

Quand…

le mensonge disparaîtra-t-il ?

Des visages rayonnants.
Du soleil partout.
L'amour fraternel.
L'humanité.
Une affiche publicitaire
pour un monde nouveau.

Ceux qui ne s'adaptent
pas sont réduits au silence.
C'est ta responsabilité,
ton destin.
Tu as le droit de souffrir,
mais pas de déranger.
La simple vérité de l'hypocrisie.

Vengeance !
Elle viendra.

Trop longtemps,
vous avez gardé le silence.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez menti.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez haï.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez manipulé.
Trop longtemps,
votre monde a existé.

Pas de silence !
Pas de détournement du regard !
Pas de mensonges !
Pas de tromperie !

On collecte des dons.
Des mots chaleureux
pour les âmes glacées.
Les flashs des appareils photo font
rayonner les âmes généreuses.
Un monde tout en lumière.

L'argent achète la conscience.
On prie pour les péchés.
Pas pour le pardon.
Derrière le masque,
les larmes des autres.
Elles se vendent bien.

Vengeance !
Elle viendra.

Trop longtemps,
vous avez gardé le silence.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez menti.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez haï.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez manipulé.
Trop longtemps,
votre monde a existé.

Pas de silence !
Pas de détournement du regard !
Pas de mensonges !
Pas de tromperie !

La musique joue.
Les gens dansent.
Le bonheur
se trouve au grand magasin.
Tout le monde peut y prendre part.
Le bonheur des travailleurs.

Quand les lumières s'éteignent,
il ne reste que la douleur.
Tout le monde connaît la vérité,
mais personne ne veut la voir.
Ne rien voir !
Ne rien entendre !
Ne rien dire !

Comme votre monde est triste...

Vengeance !
Elle viendra.

Trop longtemps,
vous avez gardé le silence.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez menti.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez haï.
Trop longtemps,
vous avez manipulé.
Trop longtemps,
votre monde a existé.

The Scar Behind the Song

As an atheist, my favourite pastime is, of course, to criticise religion. And the churches make it very easy to voice such criticism. Since its inception, the Christian church has distinguished itself through crime, murder, torture, abuse, fraud, rape and much more. Normally, such a criminal gang would be brought to justice and nobody would want anything to do with these people. But this organisation has managed to create a lie that apparently excuses every crime.

What’s interesting is that this lie, called God, is attributed with all virtuous qualities. Which, in turn, leads me to ask: if God really is so good and just, why is his own organisation on earth so criminal and malicious? But what really makes me doubt is that, despite this contradiction, so many people still want to believe in the lie.

Well, a very, very long time ago, people created gods to explain things for which they had no explanation. For a person in the Stone Age, a bolt of lightning must have been a terrifying sight, and it is understandable that people tried to explain this force of nature through, for example, a ‘god’. But now we live in the 21st century. We have science. We have gained a great deal of knowledge. An imaginary ‘friend’ to explain the world to us is no longer necessary.

So God no longer exists, not because humankind has no other explanation, but simply because humankind is weak. The explanation has given way to the excuse. God is supposed to excuse our failures, our lies, our cowardice and so on. God is dead, but humankind keeps him alive because it needs an excuse.

“Jamais plus” shatters this lie and states unequivocally that this lie will die. No matter how often the lie is repeated, it remains a lie.

This stupidity can only be portrayed through hard, relentless industrial music. Like a machine, the lie runs through the cogs. But over time, the cogs wear down. It comes to a standstill. And it is precisely here that the gentle sound of dark synthwave can be heard, saying: ‘It had to come to this, and it is good that your lie is finally coming to an end.’

Religion is for the weak. Anyone who wants to free themselves must free themselves from religion.

Lyrics

Respire calmement!

The Scar Behind the Song

Whilst ‘Jamais Plus’ is a general critique of religion, ‘Crie!’ is a very direct critique of the systemic cases of abuse within the Christian church.

It is shocking to see that cases of abuse occur repeatedly and on a large scale within an organisation, that superiors cover up for the perpetrators and conceal the abuse, that victims are stigmatised, and that, despite this, no state authority intervenes.

No public prosecutor’s office brings charges. No politician demands a thorough investigation and the appropriate consequences should the Church resist.

The Christian Church stands above the law.

That alone leaves me utterly stunned. But in this case, I am also willing to engage with the logic of religion itself for once. After all, a Christian representative need fear no one more than God himself. And no one can escape God’s judgement. Accordingly, a representative of God ought to fear wrongdoing, as he must assume, firstly, that the crime does not escape God’s notice and, secondly, that God will punish the crime.

But this is precisely where two questions arise for me. Firstly, why do God’s representatives seem not to fear this very thing? Their fear of God can’t be all that great. A bare child’s bottom seems, at the very least, more appealing than the fear of God’s judgement. Secondly, if God really is as the Christian Church describes him, such brutal crimes against innocent children ought to put God in a genuinely bad mood.

God’s wrath ought to be striking the perpetrators right here and now. But no bolt of lightning strikes a vicarage. No plague of locusts in the Vatican. God remains silent.

To me, of course, this is logical. A lie cannot speak, and the Christian Church is a criminal organisation that must finally be banned.

You can probably sense in my words the outrage and anger I feel towards these criminals. The lyrics of ‘Crie!’ are correspondingly harsh. They do not sugar-coat anything, they do not beat about the bush; they describe violence against children for what it is: inhuman and repulsive.

The choice of genres was once again very deliberate. Industrial music represents the driving force behind the perpetrators: relentless and without mercy. Ambient horror makes the children’s pain and helplessness palpable. “Crie!” is cruel because the truth is cruel.

The question remains: when will this madness end? When will the perpetrators be brought to justice? When will the innocent children be set free? When will the stigma surrounding the victims end?

Lyrics

La perversion dissimulée
derrière la religion...

Crie !

Caché derrière le silence.
L'impuissance des victimes.
Dieu détourne le regard.
Jésus se tait.
Marie rit.
Tu pries.
Tu implores.

Tu demandes :
« Où est la foi ? »
Elle est dans ton cul !

Ils joignent les mains.
Des prières chaleureuses.
Des mains froides dans la nuit.
Ils exigent.
Ils prennent ce qu’ils veulent.
Sans défense…

tu es là, allongé.

Crie !

Caché derrière le silence.
L'impuissance des victimes.
Dieu détourne le regard.
Jésus se tait.
Marie rit.
Tu pries.
Tu implores.

Tu demandes :
« Où est la foi ? »
Elle est dans ton cul !

Une odeur de sueur.
Une boule dans la gorge.
Plus rien de sacré à l'horizon.
La cupidité domine le silence.
La douleur domine le corps.
Quand prendra fin...

ce silence ?

Crie !

Caché derrière le silence.
L'impuissance des victimes.
Dieu détourne le regard.
Jésus se tait.
Marie rit.
Tu pries.
Tu implores.

Tu demandes :
« Où est la foi ? »
Elle est dans ton cul !

À l'église,
il caresse les têtes.
La nuit,
ce sont d'autres parties du corps.
De l'hypocrisie dans le regard.
Le silence pour préserver l'harmonie.
Des larmes retenues…

Jour après jour.

Crie !

Caché derrière le silence.
L'impuissance des victimes.
Dieu détourne le regard.
Jésus se tait.
Marie rit.
Tu pries.
Tu implores.

Tu demandes :
« Où est la foi ? »
Elle est dans ton cul !

Les blessures guérissent.
Les cicatrices restent à jamais.
Quel genre de Dieu est-ce là ?
Quelle sorte de religion est-ce là ?
Quelle sorte de société est-ce là…

qui détourne le regard ?

Crie !
Brise tes chaînes !
Aucun dieu ne te libérera !
Que le mensonge brûle !
Tu as assez...

souffert !

Crie !

Caché derrière le silence.
L'impuissance des victimes.
Dieu détourne le regard.
Jésus se tait.

Tu implores.

The Scar Behind the Song

The meaning of the song is probably quite obvious. It’s about false gods, self-obsessed angels and the moment when the web of lies unravels.

For this reason, I’m going to focus more on the idea behind the lyrics. Because, in fact, there’s one thing that has always fascinated me. A story is told, but over time everything surrounding that story turns out to be a lie. Take, for example, the charming story of Adam and Eve, who, as we know, are supposed to represent the origins of humanity. Strangely enough, however, the story overlooks the monkey, our ancestor, and these two people certainly didn’t keep dinosaurs as pets either.

Then there’s the story about our Earth, which, as we all know, is flat. (Let’s leave aside for now the madmen who actually still believe in it.)

The Christian faith has presented us with many lies which, even today, cannot be portrayed as anything other than lies.

Then there are those ‘masterpieces’ of the Christian faith: with a letter of indulgence, one could buy one’s way out of any guilt; women were labelled witches and burnt at the stake; other peoples were massacred and oppressed, and so on and so forth.

In the twenty-first century, there is no longer any reason to believe in God and his perverse angels for even a single second. But people like the idea that they can shift the blame for their own failures onto an imaginary God. And so God lives on even today – as a sort of alibi. People created God and now they let him live on, because the lie is more comfortable than the truth.

Now I’ll come back to my song. Because if it were simply a matter of people hiding behind a lie, one could just shake one’s head and carry on laughing. But behind the lie of God lies one of the most criminal organisations in world history. To its credit go persecution, torture, murder, rape, genocide, the eradication of foreign cultures, abuse of power and much more besides. Many a mafia gang would look upon the history of the Christian Church with admiration.

It is therefore time for this organisation, together with its God, to go down in flames. That is precisely what the angels’ burning wings are meant to symbolise. Humanity must free itself from its own cowardice and thereby set the Church of Lies ablaze.

This theme simply called for a dark industrial sound with ambient horror elements. Cold, merciless and devoid of any romanticism. The song is not meant to explain; it is meant to destroy the lie.

Lyrics

Les désespérés
s'accrochent à vos ailes.
Votre or les aveugle.
L'orgueil se cache derrière la lumière.
Vaine arrogance des hypocrites.

Que vos ailes brûlent !

Que le sang pleuve du ciel.
Que les anges tombent
dans l'abîme.
La fin du mensonge
est proche.
Les enfants de Dieu
sont morts.

La vengeance
surgit des ténèbres !
Cruelle !
Implacable !
Tout détruisant !

Vous vous êtes baignés
dans la lumière du soleil.
Adorés par les imbéciles.
Mille mensonges démasqués.
Mille mensonges recréés.
La vérité a été brûlée.
Les bûchers servent de rappel.

Que vos ailes brûlent !

Que le sang pleuve du ciel.
Que les anges tombent
dans l'abîme.
La fin du mensonge
est proche.
Les enfants de Dieu
sont morts.

La vengeance
surgit des ténèbres !
Cruelle !
Implacable !
Tout détruisant !

Acclamés comme des héros.
Gardiens des pauvres.
Misère des faibles.
Mieux vaut se cacher derrière
le mensonge
que de se battre pour la vérité.
Vous trinquez avec du vin.

Que vos ailes brûlent !

Que le sang pleuve du ciel.
Que les anges tombent
dans l'abîme.
La fin du mensonge
est proche.
Les enfants de Dieu
sont morts.

La vengeance
surgit des ténèbres !
Cruelle !
Implacable !
Tout détruisant !

Des temples ont été érigés pour vous.
Ils brûleront !
Des idoles ont été peintes.
Le sang les recouvrira !
Des monuments ont été construits.
Ils s'effondreront !

Maintenant, vous tombez du ciel !
Vos ailes sont en feu !
La splendeur a disparu !
La mort des anges va survenir !

Votre Dieu… est déjà mort !

Que vos ailes brûlent !

Que le sang pleuve du ciel.
Que les anges tombent
dans l'abîme.
La fin du mensonge
est proche.
Les enfants de Dieu
sont morts.

La vengeance
surgit des ténèbres !
Cruelle !
Implacable !
Tout détruisant !

Que vos ailes brûlent !

Que le sang pleuve du ciel.

The Scar Behind the Song

Capitalism, like no other system, knows how to cloud people’s minds to such an extent that nobody knows any more what actually makes a person human.

Happiness becomes a commodity. You can buy it in big, colourful department shops. If you’ve got little money, you can buy a bit of happiness. If you’ve got a lot of money, you can buy great happiness. Consequently, people chase after their true god: money.

Love becomes a commodity. On the one hand, indirectly – through dating sites and the like – I can find the perfect partner with a single swipe. The fee for this ‘fun’ is also relatively cheap. On the other hand, you can also buy love very directly. A woman from Romania or the Philippines? No problem, because the poverty in these countries allows us rich Western Europeans to buy a wife. And then, of course, there are the women in brothels and on the streets.

Sure, it feels a bit sleazy, but capitalism has a solution for this too. Prostitutes are simply called ‘sex workers’, and suddenly prostitution is a normal business like any other. The root causes of prostitution are sidestepped and the business is boosted. A win-win situation. Except for the prostitutes.

And if anyone has any doubts, they can always join a political party or a religious organisation, and their conscience is immediately soothed. Because a conscience can be bought, too.

Capitalism turns everything into a commodity. You want a rebellion? Then buy one. One of the saddest examples of this is probably punk music. A genre of music that embodied rebellion – and today? What’s left of it is marketed as pandering punk rock. The lyrics have been watered down and the former anger has fizzled out. The real punk bands don’t play on the radio or in trendy scene clubs; they play to 20 dreamers in a shabby pub. Their music can’t be found on Spotify. The market is ridding itself of true rebellion and marketing a staged version of it. My favourite example here is a band with a wonderful song about a certain Alex. These days, all that’s left of this band is nostalgia and pub romance. Fortunately, the band decided to call it a day.

For this song, too, industrial was my first choice. Because experiencing this relentless machine day in, day out is torture. The only hope that remains is that every system will eventually collapse. With capitalism, at least Nero is already standing on the balcony playing the harp.

Dormez!

Que reste-t-il… quand tout le monde se tait ?

Genre: Industrial Ambient, Darkwave, Horror Synthwave

The Scar Behind the Song

‘Dormez!’ is, for me, the only logical conclusion to this album. Because even if we name all the horrors of our time, the true horror is silence. For it is silence alone that makes horror possible.

Is there a manipulative boss? That’s terrifying, but if the majority join forces, even that boss will soon be history. But people start to wonder: what’s in it for me to take action against the boss? What trouble could that get me into? You don’t want to fall out with the victims, but you don’t want to fall out with the boss either. So, you keep quiet.

It is the silent majority that enables injustice. Perhaps my words sound very harsh now, but from my point of view, these people become accomplices.

“Dormez!” denounces this hypocrisy. I denounce this hypocrisy.

I’ve witnessed it far too often. It has disgusted me far too often.

It’s not for nothing that I’ve opted for a dystopian industrial sound with ambient horror. Because what one has to experience and endure in this society is pure horror.

It’s not for nothing that I prefer to remain in solitude and write songs for a very small minority.

Lyrics

Que reste-t-il…
quand tout le monde se tait ?
Des visages sans contours.
Des yeux vides.
Une peau froide.
Des voix brisées.

Un cœur qui saigne.

Je ne veux
pas me taire !
Je ne veux
pas devenir comme vous !
Je ne veux
pas mourir de froid à l'intérieur !
Je ne veux
pas vivre dans le mensonge !

Mon cœur saigne depuis longtemps.
Des torrents infinis de douleur.
Des cris muets de désespoir.

Les couleurs vives
sont censées masquer la grisaille.
Il ne reste que le désespoir.
La musique joyeuse
est censée couvrir les pleurs.
Il ne reste que l'abîme.
Que faire ?
Quand la couleur s'estompe ?
Quand la musique s'éteint ?

Je ne veux
pas me taire !
Je ne veux
pas devenir comme vous !
Je ne veux
pas mourir de froid à l'intérieur !
Je ne veux
pas vivre dans le mensonge !

Mon cœur saigne depuis longtemps.
Des torrents infinis de douleur.
Des cris muets de désespoir.

Serments d'amour.
Spectacle de l'illusion.
Pas de perte dans la vie à deux.
S'enfoncer dans la solitude.
Le lien, c'est le bénéfice.
Le bénéfice, c'est la vie.

Je ne veux
pas me taire !
Je ne veux
pas devenir comme vous !
Je ne veux
pas mourir de froid à l'intérieur !
Je ne veux
pas vivre dans le mensonge !

Mon cœur saigne depuis longtemps.
Des torrents infinis de douleur.
Des cris muets de désespoir.

Une berceuse retentit.
Ferme les yeux une dernière fois.
Ce qui est déjà mort
ne peut pas mourir.
La folie ne peut que dormir.
Dans l'espoir éternel
qu'elle ne se réveille jamais.

Dormez !
Dormez !
La fin approche !
C'est certain !

Je ne veux
pas me taire !
Je ne veux
pas devenir comme vous !
Je ne veux
pas mourir de froid à l'intérieur !
Je ne veux
pas vivre dans le mensonge !

Mon cœur saigne depuis longtemps.
Des torrents infinis de douleur.
Des cris muets de désespoir.
